I love pizza and I love Lumpia. So why not cross-breed these two? Tadah! Today, I present to you my Pepperoni Pizza Lumpia.
This is indeed one scrumptious snack for you and your family to enjoy. Sad news however, for mozzarella cheese lovers, this wouldn't have mozzarella. Since these little guys need to be deep fried, we have to use a more 'sturdier' cheese.
Ingredients:
Pepperoni (sliced into tiny pieces)
Green Bell Pepper (cut into strips)
Onion (roughly chopped)
Mushroom (optional)
Pizza or Spaghetti Sauce (both works fine, I tried it)
Lumpia Wrapper
Cheese sticks (or wrap some cheddar cheese in another rice paper)
Some cooking oil for deep frying
Flour mixed with water (to serve as glue) or 1 beaten egg
Procedure:
1. In a pan, sauté onion until translucent. Then add the pepperoni and cook for about 2min. I didn’t use mushroom in my pictures because I forgot to buy one. But if you want to add mushrooms to this recipe, cook button mushrooms along with your peperoni.
2. Add the pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce. Be careful not to add too many. For 10pieces of peperoni (cut into tiny pieces), you just need about 2 tablespoon full of sauce.
3. Add a pinch of sugar, salt, and pepper to taste.
4. Cook for at least 2 min and turn off the heat. Let it cool.
5. Prepare your lumpia wrapper and line up your ingredients. Roll and seal with water.
6. Heat oil and deep fry the lumpia until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain excess oil.
7. Serve and enjoy!
